ISLAMABAD – Most Pakistanis including the educated ones have perception that America needs Pakistan. “You may call it a wishful thinking or misconception, the fact remains that Pakistanis are yet to understand their own needs and the needs of others under the changed circumstances,” said Rauf-ul- Hassan, a retired professor of political science. “And perhaps that was the reason, that Pakistanis ignored several reports appeared in the West that Balochistan should be used as a buffer state between Afghanistan and Pakistan”, he said adding that Pakistanis should not be blamed for they do not believe that their country’s foreign policy is made in Rawalpindi, not in Islamabad.
Prof. Rauf also said the country’s judiciary, which looks towards Rawalpindi before making any decision, took nearly fours years to raise the question of missing persons, who, in fact, were in the custody of the intelligence agencies.

The Republican Representative Dana Rohrabacher’s resolution said the Balochi people “have the right to self-determination and to their own sovereign country, and they should be afforded the opportunity to choose their own status.” What’s next?
Islamabad condemned the resolution instantly and so prompt was the meaningless clarification from the US ambassador here.
