ISLAMABAD What will happen if the US and its allies withdraw troops from the war-torn Afghanistan in next summer? This question is agitating the minds of all stake holders, including Pakistan, India, Iran and possibly Peoples Republic of China.
Pakistan being the frontline state against war on terror seems to be more concerned and worried for it has already paid a very heavy price to contain terrorism in and outside the country.
Pakistan, according to government officials, wants that the US should leave Kabul after having a peaceful settlement acceptable to Afghan people. Officials say that Islamabad has bitter experience of Cold War when the United States left the region after the defeat of the collapsed Soviet Union and the US- trained warriors entered Peshawar and Quetta to turn entire Pakistan into a battlefield.
