ISLAMABAD Surging Peoples Republic of China has made its intentions clear to bat on the US wickets in South Asia but political observers here have ruled out the possibility of another Cold war in the region.

ISLAMABAD Surging Peoples Republic of China has made its intentions clear to bat on the US wickets in South Asia but political observers here have ruled out the possibility of another Cold war in the region.
They said the previous US Cold war fought on the soil of Afghanistan caused the downfall and disintegration of Soviet Union not because of Americas victory. The Soviet Union fell apart becaue of its battered economy. Can economically week Washington affort another war in or around Kabul? The answer is certainly not, said Syed Fahimuddin, a retired professor of political science here.
He told Canadian Asian News that Pakistan has learned a lesson from the Cold war and its nation will not allow the counntrys armed forces to turn an America war into a holy war or Jehad to defeat communism or socialism. However, he said, a difficult question is: Will America give up its long term interest in the region?
